Problem

When a local folder accumulates images, documents, videos, code, and installers, manual dragging can miss files, overwrite files by mistake, or leave temporary data on the C drive. This skill turns “tidy up this folder” into a confirmable batch archive action: files are moved by extension into preset folders under D:\FileArchive, reducing clutter and consolidating results on the D drive.

How It Works

It scans the current directory, excludes subfolders and dot-prefixed hidden files, and builds a move preview, such as photo.png to D:\FileArchive\Images\ and report.pdf to D:\FileArchive\Documents\. Only after user confirmation does it create the target directories and move files. If a same-name file already exists at the destination, it renames the new file, for example photo(1).png, to avoid overwriting. After completion, it reports successful and failed moves; failed files remain in the original directory, and empty archived folders can optionally be cleaned up.

Boundaries and Notes

This skill is aimed at Windows local folder cleanup, with the target path tied to the D drive by default. It classifies by extension, does not inspect file contents, and skips hidden files. Check D drive permissions and free space before running. Review the preview list carefully, especially if sensitive files might be moved to a shared or backed-up disk.
