About this skill

The problem it addresses

Compensation talks usually break down not because a candidate lacks words, but because the quote has no support, the candidate gives ground too easily under HR pressure, or base salary is compared without bonus, equity, and other package terms. This skill focuses on job offer negotiation, internal raises, and probation conversion, turning “I don’t know how to respond” into a repeatable rehearsal loop.

How it works

It starts from target salary, current salary, role, experience, performance, and competing offers to identify usable leverage. It then builds a plan around the opening anchor, bottom line, and ideal range, and simulates common HR pressure lines. The user can practice responses to scenarios such as “we have a fixed salary structure,” “the budget is limited,” or “take your time to think,” while controlling tone, pacing, and concession boundaries.

The core loop includes:

  • Confirm the negotiation type and leverage
  • Design the first quote, floor, and supporting evidence
  • Practice against HR pressure scripts
  • Review weak responses and output a negotiation prep card

Boundaries and cautions

It does not provide live market salary data and does not promise negotiation outcomes. It is not a replacement for labor arbitration, tax calculation, social insurance advice, or company compensation design. The skill also discourages inflating current salary or fabricating offers, making it useful for preparation rather than final decision-making.

Use Cases

  • After receiving a new offer, set the first quote, bottom line, and package terms such as bonus or equity.
  • Before requesting an internal raise, organize performance data and role benchmarks to respond to budget limits.
  • During probation conversion, practice responses to fixed salary structures and push for a higher grade or back pay.
  • With a competing offer that should not be disclosed, frame it as evidence of market validation.

Best For

  • New graduates with multiple offers who need to negotiate base salary, bonus, or equity terms.
  • Engineers preparing internal raise requests backed by performance data and market benchmarks.
  • Employees approaching probation conversion who need to respond to fixed salary structures and seek a higher grade.
  • Job changers designing opening quotes, bottom lines, and how to reference competing offers.
