Listening Practice Assistant

Problem

A common bottleneck in English listening is that learners can read a script but cannot catch keywords in audio. Connected speech, weak forms, and elision make it hard to grasp meaning, and repeated listening without text analysis can become unfocused. This skill targets the case where a learner already has a listening transcript but needs line-by-line breakdown and a concrete practice path.

How It Works

• After the user provides the transcript, level, and goal, it analyzes the text: marks vocabulary, difficult words, and phrases, and identifies connected speech, weak forms, stress, and intonation.
• It then explains the listening obstacles, pronunciation rules, and recognition strategies, such as catching key words first, distinguishing common weak forms, and using context to recover missing information.
• It gives practice guidance: listen first, read later, repeat the same passage, shadow the audio, and schedule review.
• It can also generate dictation tasks, turning the material into checkable practice.

Boundaries

It cannot play audio or assess the user's pronunciation; learners must provide the material. It fits as a transcript-level intensive listening coach, not as an audio library, real-time dictation tool, or pronunciation evaluator. Without a transcript, it can only ask the user to provide one or describe what they heard.
