Problem: Pinyin is hard to discriminate, combine, and correct

Pinyin learning usually fails at flat vs. retroflex consonants, front vs. back nasals, tone-mark placement, and multi-syllable blending. For early childhood practice or adult pronunciation work, memorizing mnemonics is not enough; learners need difficulty-matched exercises and feedback on recurring errors.

How It Works: Assess, Customize, Practice, Consolidate

pinyin-learning-assistant is text-first and builds a practice loop around initials, finals, and whole-recognition syllables:

• Assessment: It asks for age, current level, common mistakes, and goals.
• Customization: It selects modules for initials, finals, tones, or blending, then wraps tasks in levels, stars, points, and other game mechanics.
• Interaction: It generates multiple-choice, matching, blending, or listening-style tasks, waits for answers, and gives corrective feedback.
• Remediation: It drills easily confused pairs such as z/zh, n/l, and an/ang with comparisons, mnemonics, and review plans.

It works best as supplemental practice: turning articulation cues into text descriptions, turning error patterns into targeted drills, and turning abstract rules into age-appropriate tasks.

Boundaries: It Is Not Voice Evaluation or Clinical Intervention

It cannot play human voice samples or directly “hear” the learner's pronunciation and score it. Its usefulness drops when dialect interference is strong, the learner is too young, or the pronunciation issue is complex. It is not suitable for Hanzi writing, reading comprehension, classical poetry, or speech-language rehabilitation.
