Once your DSH conversation list grows, the default titles turn into a jumble of verbose, inconsistent strings that are hard to search or remember. TitleCraft enforces a compact date + type + topic + optional icon format for every session, holds a strict 80 UTF-8 byte ceiling, and refuses to write incomplete topics or unknown tokens rather than truncating a prefix to force a result.

Seven built-in presets cover common cases, and you can compose your own template with the {date}, {type}, {topic}, and {icon} tokens. Title types are fully manageable, the date source can be creation time, the last human message, the last completed turn, or the last durable activity, and the timezone follows your IANA setting. Two hundred and six local semantic icons ship in the plugin; smart mode picks one from an allowlist based on the inferred topic, and no remote icons or fonts are ever fetched. Model calls follow a minimal-cost strategy: if a complete short topic can be inferred deterministically, no model is called at all, and if the topic is uncertain the current title stays untouched. Enabling first-message generation or turn-end refinement adds at most one lightweight call per live session, with an optional single fallback retry, and none of these calls alter the main session model or reasoning effort. The native Rename dialog gains two workflow steps, AI generate summary and Generate title from summary, where you can edit the summary, type, and icon between steps before committing through the native button; TitleCraft never saves a title behind the scenes.

It is aimed at DSH users with large conversation histories who need fast sidebar navigation, developers who care about title consistency and dislike manual editing, and anyone who wants tidy titles at the lowest possible API cost. When the current DSH interface supports the native Rename controls the experience is complete; when it does not, Settings surfaces a notice and automatic titling continues to work unaffected.
