About this skill
Problem to Solve
Leaf curling and margin scorch are common in the field, but symptoms alone often cannot separate drought stress from disease, pesticide damage, or fertilizer burn. Upward curl, downward curl, tip scorch, and edge desiccation can be triggered by different causes, so relying only on experience may lead to misdiagnosis and delay irrigation, isolation, or management checks.
How It Works
The skill performs structured diagnosis from leaf visual features. Input can be a local image or video file, or a network URL; the script supports --input for local paths, --url for remote files, and optional --detail output. It focuses on three signals:
- Curling direction: upward, downward, mixed, or no obvious curl.
- Margin scorch pattern: tip scorch, edge desiccation, or whole-leaf drying.
- Affected leaf stage: old leaves, new leaves, and related positional features.
When soil-moisture data is available, the system combines visual features with environmental context to rank likely causes, such as drought stress, powdery mildew, viral disease, pesticide damage, or fertilizer burn. The output is not a single sentence, but identification results, risk notes, directional recommendations, and a report link. Historical reports are queried via --list and should be read from the cloud API rather than local summaries.
Boundaries
This is useful for open-field crops, greenhouse vegetables, and orchards, and can be integrated into agri-IoT, UAV inspection, or mobile workflows. Inputs are best kept as jpg/png images or mp4/avi/mov videos, up to 10MB; include both an overall view and a close-up of the leaf margin. The diagnosis is best treated as an early-stage reference, and severe suspected disease should be confirmed through field inspection or professional plant-protection advice.
Use Cases
- A greenhouse grow manager sees leaf-margin scorch and needs to separate drought from fertilizer burn using soil moisture context.
- A field inspection operator captures upward leaf curling and needs to distinguish drought stress, powdery mildew, or viral disease with recommended actions.
- An orchard worker finds tip scorch on older leaves and needs to locate the affected leaf stage while querying historical diagnostic reports.
- A crop-protection technician receives a leaf video and needs a structured risk report with irrigation or isolation guidance.
Best For
- Greenhouse grow managers who review leaf-margin scorch and soil moisture to choose irrigation or fertilizer actions.
- Crop-protection technicians who need to rank drought, disease, or chemical damage from upward or downward curling.
- Orchard inspection teams using cameras or drones to document tip scorch and affected leaf stage.
- Agri-IoT platform engineers who integrate cloud historical-report queries into diagnosis tracking workflows.
