About this skill
Problem It Solves
Daily, weekly, and retrospective reports often stall at the same point: scattered work items, task statuses, code snippets, JIRA links, risks, and follow-up plans are hard to turn into a clean deliverable. work-report-generator-pro targets this office workflow by turning raw work notes into structured Markdown reports and optionally sending them over SMTP.
How It Works
- Report types: supports
daily, weekly, andproject retrospective, with triggers such as “today’s summary”, “this week’s summary”, or “retrospective”. - Templates: offers concise and detailed styles, plus custom fields; template files live in
templates/, such asdaily_simple.md,weekly_detailed.md, andretrospective_simple.md. - Data collection: confirms report type, style, date range, recipients, and data source, then fills the report sections.
- Weekly rollup: if no explicit data is provided, it can read this week’s
outputs/work_daily_YYYY-MM-DD*.mdfiles, merge duplicate task names, infer progress and working days, and collect risks and next-week plans. - Output rules: daily, weekly, and retrospective reports are written as Markdown under
outputs/, preserving tables, lists, and links. - Email delivery: supports SMTP configuration for Outlook, QQ, 163, Gmail, and others; before sending, it checks whether
sender_emailandsender_passwordare placeholders and guides setup of app passwords or authorization codes. - Scheduling: can be triggered manually or through WorkBuddy automation, for example daily reports at 18:00 or weekly reports at Friday 17:00.
Boundaries to Watch
This skill fits personal or small-team reporting when work data is available or previous daily reports exist for rollup. Enterprise Outlook accounts with mandatory MFA or disabled Basic Auth may not support automatic SMTP sending, so a personal mailbox, authorization-code mailbox, or manual sending may be required. Email configuration includes app passwords or authorization codes, so store the config in a controlled directory and restrict file permissions.
Use Cases
- Compile today's completed tasks, issues, and next-day plan into a concise daily report saved under outputs.
- Roll up this week's daily report files into a weekly report with merged progress, risks, and next-week plan.
- Generate a project retrospective with goal status, Keep, Improve, root-cause analysis, and Action Items.
- Configure SMTP and send the detailed weekly report to recipients with a CC list.
Best For
- Project members who need a daily report delivered to recipients at 18:00.
- Engineering leads who must merge task progress, risks, and next-week plans from daily reports.
- Iteration owners who need a retrospective with root-cause analysis and action items.
- Product managers who want to send weekly reports to managers and team mailboxes via SMTP.
