About this skill

The Problem

When a batch of business records must be exported from one Excel template, manual copy-and-paste can easily cause misaligned cells, missed formatting, or inconsistent file names. Excelsingle targets this structured bulk-fill case: take multiple rows from a summary sheet, write each row into fixed template positions, and produce multiple archivable Excel files.

How It Works

The skill first checks the template and summary-sheet format rules, then calls excel_fill.py to run the fill. Typical inputs include template.xlsx, data.xlsx, target cells such as A2,B2,C2, and an output directory. The script maps summary columns to the requested cells row by row, generates one workbook per row, packages the results into a ZIP archive, and returns JSON so downstream automation can inspect paths or handle errors.

Boundaries

It fits stable, field-fixed templates such as reports, forms, or export attachments. It is not a replacement for templates that rely on complex formulas, cross-workbook references, dynamic charts, or per-row template variants. Before running it, confirm the header order, target cell coordinates, and write permissions for the output directory. Also avoid bulk generation until template validation is complete.

Use Cases

  • Operations staff use an order summary sheet to fill one fixed template row by row and export multiple Excel files.
  • Support teams convert 200 ticket records into separate template workbooks and package them into a ZIP archive.
  • Data annotators write annotation results into a shared review template and generate one Excel file per item.
  • Finance assistants fill A2, B2, and C2 from expense summary rows and export multiple voucher sheets.

Best For

  • Operations staff who convert summary rows into fixed-template workbooks
  • Support or back-office teams exporting batched form files as Excel workbooks
  • Data annotators who need standardized per-item Excel reviews
  • Finance assistants generating multiple voucher sheets from business data rows
