About this skill

Problem

Desks and shared folders often mix loose files, temporary assets, and project documents. Manual reorganization risks accidental deletion, overwrites, or changes that are hard to undo. test01 targets this workflow by limiting actions to moving files and creating folders, with no deletion, no overwrite, and no restructuring of existing folders.

How it works

The skill relies on platform scripts for core file operations: .ps1 on Windows and .sh on macOS. Instead of issuing raw mv or Move-Item commands, the assistant reads structured script output and applies semantic judgment only to unmatched files. The main flow is:

  • Phase one matching: the script archives files using existing folder names and naming patterns.
  • Semantic supplementation: unmatched files are reviewed for thematic fit, such as contracts, weekly reports, or images belonging to an existing folder.
  • Phase two fallback: remaining files are sorted by last access time and file type into folders such as uncommon files, images, documents, and code.
  • Desktop arrangement: when the target is the desktop, a script removes icon gaps and can sort by item type.
  • Log-based rollback: moves are written to a log, allowing rollback of all operations or a single file.

Boundaries

The skill skips shortcuts (.lnk, .app, .url, .webloc, .desktop, macOS aliases), hidden files, system files, existing folders, inaccessible files, files in use, and files above the default size threshold. It is suitable for desktop cleanup, file archiving, and directory organization, but not for bulk deletion, renaming, cross-directory restructuring, or file operations that require item-by-item manual confirmation.

Use Cases

  • When screenshots, contracts, reports, and installers clutter the desktop, archive them into existing folders by type and arrange icons.
  • Organize a shared project directory by first moving naming-similar documents into existing project folders, then applying type-based fallback.
  • After a file is moved to the wrong directory, undo a single file or all moves using the operation log.
  • Move files untouched for more than 60 days into an uncommon folder without deleting or renaming them.

Best For

  • Operations staff who need to archive daily screenshots, weekly reports, and meeting materials into fixed folders.
  • Product managers maintaining shared team directories and wanting documents grouped by project name.
  • Designers with cluttered desktop icons and gaps who need scripted organization and icon arrangement.
  • Remote workers who fear accidental deletion and require rollback-safe file operations.
