File Converter

Problem

Markdown documents, CSV files, and images often need to be converted before delivery, archiving, or web use. Manually switching between editors, spreadsheet tools, and image software breaks workflow and does not fit well into scripted or repeatable pipelines. This skill organizes common file conversion tasks into a small set of local scripts.

How It Works

It focuses on four conversion paths:

• Markdown to HTML: scripts/md_to_html.py converts .md files into web pages, using the markdown dependency.
• Markdown to PDF: scripts/md_to_pdf.py converts .md files into PDF output, relying on pandoc.
• CSV to Excel: scripts/csv_to_excel.py converts .csv files into .xlsx workbooks, using pandas and openpyxl.
• Image format conversion: scripts/convert_image.py converts between PNG, JPG, WEBP, GIF, BMP, and other supported formats, using Pillow.

The general pattern is to prepare an input file, select the target format, and run the matching script. This is useful when you want to turn ad hoc file cleanup into a stable local workflow.

Boundaries

This skill is best suited for local file organization, documentation publishing, and data handoff. Markdown to PDF requires pandoc in the runtime environment. Image conversion results can depend on source image quality, transparency, and target format support. CSV to Excel is intended for structured table conversion and does not cover advanced styling, formulas, permissions, or collaboration features.
