About this skill

What It Solves

Long Word documents often fail because of scattered structure, inconsistent styles, and manual TOC or page-number fixes. When heading levels, body styles, headers, and footers drift, one revision can break the whole layout. This skill turns that repeatable layout work into checkable steps: define structure first, apply styles second, and proof the output last.

How It Works

The skill follows a WRITE workflow:

  • Wire the outline: turn context, source material, and key points into a hierarchy before drafting.
  • Rule the styles: define heading, body, and list styling to reduce inconsistent formatting.
  • Insert fields and TOC: add Word elements such as table of contents, page numbers, headers, and footers.
  • Typeset the layout: adjust template-based paragraph, spacing, and page layout suggestions.
  • Export with proofreading: check consistency and produce a review checklist.

Provide the scenario, audience, constraints, and success criteria first. If the output is too broad, add tone, length limits, and reference examples.

Boundaries

It suits internal documents, proposals, template reuse, and layout proofing. It should not be treated as the final source for official policy, real-time data, or legal wording. High-stakes deliverables still need human review; cross-workflow or multi-agent needs require a broader system rather than a single document-output skill.

Use Cases

  • Draft a quarterly business plan by organizing notes into headings and creating a TOC.
  • Maintain department SOPs with unified heading styles, headers, footers, and spacing.
  • Proof project weekly reports for consistent numbering, citations, and terminology before merging.
  • Review a client proposal for TOC page numbers, margins, and template elements before delivery.

Best For

  • Operations leads who unify business plans in Word templates and generate TOCs.
  • Product managers maintaining SOPs where style edits often break formatting.
  • Project managers preparing bid documents that need heading, TOC, and consistency checks.
  • HR staff maintaining training manuals with unified headers, footers, and paragraph styles.
