The hard part is inconsistent multi-source data. Open Library, Google Books, Project Gutenberg, Internet Archive, Douban, and WeChat Read return different fields. Overseas sources can be slow from mainland China, while titles, translations, and multiple editions can be easily mismatched. A flat list of links is neither reliable nor safe to deliver.
How It Works
The skill treats ebook lookup as a bounded search workflow. It starts with one of three entry points: title/author, ISBN, or keywords. It then normalizes the hits, assesses legality, and returns a structured result. Legal sources are ranked by public domain, borrowing, and preview/purchase, with cross-checks against Open Library and Google Books. Public-domain books are supplemented with direct EPUB links from Project Gutenberg or Internet Archive. For Chinese titles or unstable overseas access, it prefers Douban Books and WeChat Read, then falls back to WebSearch. Every result carries format, legality, and source confidence, so probable editions are not presented as confirmed assets.
Boundaries
It does not provide piracy or shadow-library access, and it does not fall back to gray sources when no legal full text exists. Copyrighted books are limited to preview, borrowing, or purchase. If the goal is feeding book-to-skill-adapter, prefer public-domain EPUB files or a legally owned copy. The skill is best for single-title lookup and source verification; batch searches require repeated calls and attention to Google Books rate limits.
