About this skill

Problem Context

When users face philosophical questions such as career confusion, moral choices, existential doubt, or life meaning, the hard part is often not getting a conclusion, but turning vague feelings into questions that can be examined, compared, and tested. Giving a standard answer can flatten a complex value judgment, while abstract theory can drift away from the user’s immediate situation.

How It Works

The skill organizes philosophical discussion into an executable workflow:
- Clarification: identify whether the issue touches ethics, existentialism, epistemology, or another field, and distinguish whether the user seeks understanding, answers, or possible actions.
- Multi-perspective explanation: using materials like stoicism.md, existentialism.md, and eastern-wisdom.md, it selects two or three relevant traditions and outlines their core claims, theoretical frameworks, and representative figures.
- Critique and comparison: it questions whether a philosophy explains the user’s confusion, whether it contains internal tensions, and how different views conflict on issues such as freedom, responsibility, desire, and boundaries.
- Practice planning: with practice-methodology.md, it turns discussion into cognitive adjustments, behavioral exercises, and reflective records, such as a controllability checklist, a boundary-setting exercise, or a meaning experiment journal.

Boundaries

It is better used as a structured thinking aid than as a source of absolute answers, a substitute for psychological counseling, or a moral judge. If the user needs factual lookup, legal analysis, medical advice, or crisis support, a more specialized resource or service is required.

Use Cases

  • When a user is torn by quitting or job-search doubts, turn vague dissatisfaction into a controllability checklist and a meaning experiment log.
  • When a user is struggling with relationship boundaries, compare Stoic and Confucian views and draft a boundary exercise plus emotion log.
  • When a user asks why life is meaningful, clarify the source of emptiness and compare existentialism, Buddhism, and nihilism.
  • When planning personal growth, convert abstract values into cognitive shifts, daily behavior records, and staged validation checks.

Best For

  • A product or operations professional reviewing career options and turning 'work feels meaningless' into controllability checks and action experiments
  • A junior workplace professional hurt by relationship boundaries who wants to practice setting limits without becoming cold
  • An independent worker writing a personal growth manual and turning values into recordable, verifiable behaviors
  • A learner studying existentialism, Stoicism, and Eastern philosophy who wants to compare their answers to the same dilemma
