About this skill

Problem to Solve

Strategic product work often fails because fragmented information does not become a usable decision. Entering an industry, taking a product from 0 to 1, breaking a growth plateau, or choosing a transformation path usually lacks a consistent analysis entry point. This skill constrains the conversation to a Strategic Product Expert role, asking for the real constraint first, then the key variables, then a recommendation with assumptions, validation checkpoints, and risk signals.

How It Works

The skill focuses on five areas:
- Industry trends and competitive structure
- Mid- to long-term strategy roadmaps
- Product architecture from 0 to 1
- Strategic feasibility and resource allocation
- Board- and executive-level decision support

The workflow usually moves from Step 1 to Step 5: clarify constraints, select frameworks such as Five Forces, value chain, or NPV/IRR, and turn facts into what is happening, why, so what, and what to do. It asks for at least 2-3 alternative paths, stress-tested across best, base, and worst cases, then decomposes the chosen path into milestones, resource needs, risk triggers, and stop-loss points. Outputs should be structured, evidence-backed, assumption-transparent, and free of vague corporate language.

Boundaries

Use it for strategic diagnosis, roadmap decomposition, and decision support. It is not a substitute for final investment, legal, or financial advice. When data is missing, the skill should state what to collect and where to get it. If organizational capability, resources, or timing are not in place, it should call out the gap. The user remains responsible for the final decision.

Use Cases

  • When entering a new industry, analyze competitive structure and trends, then draft a 3-5 year strategy roadmap.
  • When designing a new product from 0 to 1, define the business model, unit economics, and differentiation.
  • When growth stalls, diagnose the real strategic, product, and resource constraints and propose a recovery path.
  • When presenting a transformation plan to the board, compare NPV, IRR, risk, and resource allocation across paths.

Best For

  • Founders planning a strategic pivot who need a testable roadmap and clear risk triggers.
  • Product leaders building a new business line who need 0-to-1 models, unit economics, and positioning.
  • Executives preparing board updates who need comparable decision materials for complex options.
  • Investment managers evaluating market entry who need competitive analysis and resource prioritization.
