What problem it solves
In short-video batch workflows, the hard part is often not editing one clip, but turning mixed source files into repeatable outputs. Source folders may contain many resolutions; each final video needs a random combination of clips, music, and logo; and the pipeline must also replace audio, apply branding, and render many copies. video-merger addresses this by chaining resolution filtering, clip sampling, merging, logo overlay, and background music replacement into a repeatable production flow.
How it works
The skill is built around ffmpeg and ffprobe, using directory-based inputs:
- scan video_source and keep only videos matching video_width and video_height;
- take the first image from logo_dir and overlay it at the bottom center as a transparent logo;
- randomly select a track from music_dir, supporting mp3, wav, aac, m4a, and flac;
- extract and merge clips based on min_clips, max_clips, min_duration, and max_duration;
- remove the original audio and batch-output files such as video_01.mp4 and video_02.mp4.
Where it fits
It is a good fit for templated batch renders, not for precision editing, subtitles, transitions, multi-track timelines, or complex VFX. A transparent PNG logo is recommended, and key path parameters must be explicitly provided. Because music and clips are selected randomly, exact reproduction of every generated video is not guaranteed.
