About this skill

Problem This Solves

Brand copy often fails because the input is too vague: founders treat aspirations as facts, use words like “premium,” “cultural,” and “quality” as positioning, and conflate ideal customers with real buyers. The result is many slogans but no execution answer about what is being sold, to whom, and why it should win. Brand Distillation addresses this pre-strategy gap by compressing a name, feeling, or scattered brand story into a testable, revisable, executable skeleton.

How It Works

The skill operates like a senior strategic advisor, with the goal of reducing error rather than generating more polished options.
- Calibration: confirm whether a name exists, where it comes from, and what misunderstandings it may create.
- Customer split: define one ideal customer and one real customer, then explain the gap between them.
- Contradiction detection: expand fuzzy terms such as “high-end” into price, material, scenario, trust, or identity.
- Routing: classify the brand as functional, symbolic, or hybrid, and force a dominant axis.
- Distillation: output core, values, personality, stance, positioning, long story, short intro, and expression boundaries.
- Stress test: score target-user validity, perception clarity, differentiation, focus consistency, and strategic stability as pass, weak, or fail, and loop back if needed.

Boundaries

It is useful before content, design, or marketing execution, and for translating cultural or poetic names into business language. It is not a logo generator, pure art-direction tool, one-shot naming brainstorm, or multi-brand architecture system. Users should be prepared to answer concrete business questions rather than expecting polished copy without strategy.

Use Cases

  • A startup team before a pitch deck needs to compress scattered founder talk into a clear brand positioning and core value proposition.
  • A designer with only a poetic name and vague feeling needs to translate cultural imagery into business expression boundaries before visual work.
  • A growth operator before a campaign needs to find conversion blockers by comparing ideal customers with real buyers.
  • A brand lead repositioning an existing brand needs to surface contradictions in slogans and converge on one executable claim.

Best For

  • Brand founders preparing a pitch deck or business plan who need to clarify the business story
  • Marketing owners responsible for positioning, copy, and campaigns who need one converged claim
  • Design or creative consultants translating poetic names and cultural concepts into executable brand structure
  • Startup teams needing to confirm target users and differentiation before content, visual, or marketing launch
