About this skill

Problem

Early Amazon sourcing often stalls on deep category trees and unstable niche filter parameters. Manually walking categories like Home & Kitchen is slow, while scraping product pages can blur category intelligence with single-ASIN data. This skill wraps Pangolinfo’s category and niche queries as MCP tools, making it suitable for deciding which subcategory deserves deeper product analysis.

Core capabilities

  • Category tree drill-down: get_category_children returns browseNodeId, browseNodeName, sellable, and hasChild for narrowing scope layer by layer.
  • Category search: search_categories accepts Chinese or English category names, then feeds results into drill-down or path resolution.
  • Metric filtering: filter_categories filters categories by sales, GMV, search volume, price tier, and trend direction; filter_niches narrows opportunities using searchVolumeT90Min, top5ProductsClickShareT360Max, and returnRateT360Max.
  • Path enrichment: get_category_paths converts IDs into readable breadcrumbs for reporting context.

Boundaries

The default marketplace is US; marketplaceId should use ISO site codes such as "US", not merchant IDs. filter_categories and filter_niches cap size/page at 10, and niche queries consume more credits, so confirm budget before calling. It does not scrape specific products, reviews, bestseller lists, or write listings; use dedicated scraper, explorer, or listing-optimization skills for those tasks.

Use Cases

  • Walk the Home & Kitchen tree layer by layer and mark sellable nodes.
  • Search headphones categories, then resolve node IDs into readable breadcrumbs.
  • Shortlist category candidates using 7-day sales, GMV, and search volume.
  • Filter niche candidates by high search volume, low Top5 click share, and low return rate.

Best For

  • Amazon product-selection operators who need low-competition niche candidates quickly.
  • Market analysts preparing sourcing reports who need readable category paths.
  • AI workflow engineers integrating MCP category and niche tools.
  • Cross-border seller leads deciding whether a category is worth product deep-dives.
