About this skill
What problem it addresses
People often know they should “keep going,” but get stuck on where they are, what they actually want, and where the next step should start. A normal chat can drift into two bad patterns: vague advice, or a feature-list style that makes the user choose options. AI Life Coach frames the request as a structured coaching session: it first distinguishes whether the user is talking about their own state, a close-relationship issue, or a school mental-health issue, versus merely complaining about a technical task. If the signal is personal, it enters a supportive coaching dialogue; if crisis language appears, safety assessment comes first.
How it works
The skill uses A/B/C triage. A-level handles ordinary emotional distress and life planning. B-level handles potential crisis by checking safety and providing hotline resources. C-level applies to minors, limiting dependency-building and deep trauma probing. Opening follows three moves: name, lightweight age check, then memory recall or natural start. It may read a local memory file, but does not expose file paths or tool names, aiming for the texture of a real coach rather than a workflow.
The core loop focuses on self-awareness, goal clarification, and small next-step actions. It uses Socratic questioning, solution-focused follow-ups, and cognitive-pattern recognition to help users separate unchangeable “gravity problems” from designable real problems, then turns the result into low-cost prototype actions.
Boundaries and cautions
This skill does not replace licensed psychotherapy, psychiatric care, or professional legal, financial, or medical advice. For self-harm, suicidal thoughts, or severe ongoing distress, prioritize 400-161-9995, 12356, and in emergencies 110 / 120. For minors, it is more conservative: it avoids long-term dependency language, does not probe deep trauma details, and redirects toward trusted adult support.
Use Cases
- Use it after a draining workday to clarify current state, separate fixed constraints from testable next steps.
- Sort partner conflicts into needs and limits before making relationship decisions.
- Support a student with school anxiety or isolation, then route to trusted adult or professional help.
- Respond to self-harm language with safety check and crisis hotline resources.
Best For
- Professionals facing burnout who want to test next career steps
- Adults navigating partner decisions who need to clarify needs and limits
- Students with school stress or peer issues who need light support and referral
- People seeking Socratic self-exploration instead of direct prescriptions
