About this skill
Problem
When a user mentions sleep, insomnia, poor sleep, or sleep optimization, the skill focuses on common sleep-quality issues: difficulty falling asleep, fragmented or light sleep, daytime fatigue, and an unstable schedule. It is not a medical tool. It should not be used to diagnose sleep disorders, recommend sleeping pills, or manage severe persistent insomnia; instead, it helps turn scattered sleep details into a reviewable record.
How it works
The workflow behaves like a personalized sleep-log analysis:
- Capture baseline: ask about bedtime, wake time, sleep latency, nighttime awakenings, and daytime energy.
- Classify the issue: separate difficulty falling asleep, sleep maintenance problems, early waking, and too little or too much sleep.
- Generate a plan: propose concrete adjustments around routine, diet, environment, and stress, such as fixing wake time, reducing screen use for 1 hour before bed, and applying the 20-minute rule.
The output is meant to be data-driven rather than generic. If the user reports severe symptoms or insomnia lasting more than 4 weeks, it should point to medical care and avoid recommending medications or supplements.
Boundaries
This skill is useful for short-term tracking, trend review, and habit adjustment, but it does not replace a sleep clinic, psychiatry department, sleep monitoring, or psychotherapy. Users must provide the data, and meaningful changes typically take 2-4 weeks. If there is any self-harm or suicide risk, immediate professional mental-health support is required.
Use Cases
- Track two weeks of bedtime, awakenings, and daytime fatigue to separate slow sleep onset from early waking.
- Turn post-workout, screen, and caffeine patterns into concrete pre-sleep environment and routine adjustments.
- Build a fixed wake-time and weekend nap rule for shift work or travel-related circadian disruption.
- Review a sleep-log trend and decide whether to continue habit work or recommend a medical check-up.
Best For
- An engineer whose late-night work disrupts sleep onset, seeking a fixed wake time and pre-sleep routine.
- A product manager relying on caffeine and feeling sleepy by day, seeking better nap and evening habits.
- An operations lead with frequent shifts or travel, needing a practical circadian adjustment plan.
- A professional with multi-week insomnia who needs clear guidance on when to seek medical care.
