Problem

Short-video editing often fails because the cut happens before the material is understood: weak hooks, pacing drops, jokes or emotional beats get removed, and narration lands over the wrong beat. This skill is aimed at variety, comedy, reaction, dance, travel, product, and ad-style short content, turning raw footage, existing edits, plot notes, or rough ideas into an executable editing plan.

How It Works

It selects a workflow before planning:
- Route A for variety, comedy, talk shows, and story clips: first perform a full material read covering ASR/OCR subtitles, character relationships, conflicts, joke mechanics, emotional turns, original audio that must stay, and dead zones that can be compressed. It should not emit a final edit until the opening hook and voiceover plan are confirmed.
- Route B for viral planning or review on Douyin, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Kuaishou, and similar formats: analyze emotion, motion, visual novelty, occlusion, repetition, audio energy, and likely drop-off points, then design a 0-2s hook, escalation, peak, breather, and loopable ending.

Outputs can include Material Deep Reading, Editing Plan, Voiceover Plan, and Review / Repair, with timeline tables, captions, BGM/SFX, original-audio treatment, completion risks, and repair suggestions. When a real Jianying/CapCut draft is requested, it should claim a real draft only if the runtime can access source assets and the target environment; otherwise it provides a file checklist, executable timeline, and commands or scripts.

Boundaries

This skill is useful for pre-edit analysis and plan generation, not for inventing plot, dialogue, timestamps, or visual events that are absent from the material. Missing subtitles, timing, or visual information should be marked as uncertain and confirmed with the user. It does not promise automatic writing into a local Jianying or CapCut installation, and it should not store one-off project details as long-term preferences.
