About this skill
Problem
Business cards often pile up in drawers: inconsistent fields, duplicates for the same person, and missing context about where the card was exchanged. This skill turns existing business card text into structured contact data, focusing on building a searchable, follow-up-ready contact list rather than simple archiving.
How it works
It works from text, not image recognition. After the user types or pastes card content, the skill extracts fields such as name, company, title, phone, and email, and normalizes phone formats and company names. The core flow includes confirming required fields, adding meeting context and industry or relationship tags, checking for duplicates with the same name and company, merging the latest version, generating vCard or CSV output, and suggesting follow-up reminders. For foreign-language cards, it can map common fields by language, but phone and email should still be verified manually. It fits end-of-day cleanup after meetings or events, and can handle multiple cards in batches.
Boundaries
It does not create or design business cards, and it does not automatically sync phone contacts or CRM systems. Users should verify parsed fields and sanitize sensitive contact information before import. If starting from images, use OCR to convert them to text first, then let the skill structure the content.
Use Cases
- Paste text from event business cards after a meeting to parse names, phone numbers, emails, and export importable vCard files.
- Batch-clean post-event cards, merge same-name and same-company duplicates, and add industry and source tags.
- Normalize phone numbers from client cards into CSV, then mark first-meeting context and follow-up priority.
- Map English card text into Chinese contact fields while keeping email and phone for manual confirmation.
Best For
- Marketers who need to convert post-event card text into importable contact records
- Sales reps who maintain client files, deduplicate contacts, and tag follow-up priority
- Partnership leads who collect business cards at industry events and add meeting context and relationship tags
- Cross-border business assistants who need English card text mapped to unified contact fields
