About this skill

Problem

Job seekers usually do not lack templates. They struggle with stage confusion: unclear positioning, resumes without quantified evidence, fragmented interview prep, and offer comparisons that miss key dimensions. This skill turns that process into a staged workflow instead of producing one long generic answer.

How it works

It runs through five phases:
- Career positioning: collect industry, role, experience, skills, and goals, then find the overlap between strengths, interests, and market demand. It outputs two or three target roles with match notes and gaps to close.
- Resume and delivery: rewrite bullets using STAR, push for measurable results, and classify JD requirements as match / weak / gap. It also prioritizes channels such as referrals, career sites, and job boards, with follow-up cadence and tracking.
- Interview preparation: cover 1-minute and 3-minute self-introductions, multi-round interviewer focus areas, common questions with answer frameworks, and post-interview debriefs. It supports mock interview mode with question-by-question feedback.
- Offer and negotiation: compare offers using a matrix for total comp, business, team, growth, commute, and workload, then provide a data-anchored negotiation script and typical bump ranges.
By default it acts as a coach first: confirm the user's phase, point out issues, and provide frameworks. When the user explicitly asks for a rewrite, it performs the edit and explains the changes in a before/after table.

Boundaries

It is suitable for personal job-search workflow support. It does not provide deep salary-data lookup, job-board scraping, or legal advice on employment contracts. The more concrete the inputs, the more useful the output is. Missing resume content, JD details, interview round, or offer terms should be supplied first to avoid unverified claims.

Use Cases

  • When unsure which roles to target, map experience, skills, and market demand to 2-3 target positions.
  • After receiving a target JD, rewrite resume bullets with STAR and classify requirements as match, weak, or gap.
  • Before first, second, or HR rounds, design project follow-ups, business perspective, and questions to ask.
  • When comparing two offers, score total comp, team, growth, and commute, then draft a data-anchored negotiation line.

Best For

  • Engineers preparing to switch roles who need quantified STAR resume bullets and JD gap remediation.
  • New or experienced job seekers who need role positioning, self-introduction, and multi-round interview frameworks.
  • Candidates comparing offers who need a comparison matrix and salary negotiation language.
  • Professionals stuck after resume delivery who need channel prioritization, follow-up cadence, and interview debriefs.
