About this skill
Problem
Retro notes often collapse into a chronological list: Monday I did A, Tuesday I did B, then the conclusion becomes vague advice such as "communicate better" or "improve efficiency." The harder problem is turning fuzzy experience into testable decisions, behaviors, and rules that prevent the same mistake from repeating.
How It Works
Weekly Retro Coach drives reflection with structured follow-up questions across four layers: reconstruct Objective facts, identify Reflective emotional signals, probe Interpretive root causes, and land on Decisional actions. It challenges surface-level attribution, for example turning "not enough time" into "where did the time actually go?" It also rejects vague actions, converting "read more" into "read 30 pages of a specific book every day." The output is not just a summary: it produces 1-3 executable, verifiable actions and reviews their completion before the next session.
Boundaries
It is best for personal growth, project retrospectives, and event-level reflection. It is not a substitute for counseling, and it is not a report-writing tool. If the user only wants a factual log rather than decision review and behavior change, the goal should be made explicit before use.
Use Cases
- Run a fixed weekly review of work, learning, and health to produce 1-3 verifiable actions.
- Review a post-launch incident's key decisions, assumptions, and reusable rules to prevent repeats.
- Check monthly plan completion, time allocation, and goal alignment, then choose one priority.
- Detect vague blame, delayed execution, or hollow plans, then drill into concrete behaviors.
Best For
- Product engineers who need to turn weekly experience into actionable changes.
- Project leads who keep blaming external factors and need root-cause probing.
- Executors who mention time management but only write vague 'be careful' plans.
- Independent developers who want monthly checks on plans, time, and goal alignment.
