About this skill
Problem It Solves
Options questions often get stuck in the same places: Call / Put, in the money vs out of the money, premium, and time value are easily mixed together; contract specs are spread across index options, ETF options, and commodity options; Greeks are memorized by name but not connected to hedging and payoff structure; strategy names are many, but max profit, breakeven, and IV effects are unclear. Options Universal Assistant gives the model a bounded answering protocol: explain terminology, look up contract specs, interpret Greeks, break down structured strategies, and flag risks, while not giving directional trading advice, not forecasting markets, and not replacing professional options training.
How It Works
The skill responds passively when an options-related question is detected, then routes the question into a workflow and loads the relevant reference material. Typical paths include:
- terminology: references/glossary.md
- contract specs: references/products.md
- pricing and implied volatility: references/pricing.md
- Greeks: references/greeks.md
- strategy construction: references/strategies.md
Each answer follows a fixed shape: terminology gets a short definition, purpose, example, and confusion points; contracts list underlying asset, contract unit, strike spacing, exercise style, and final trading date; Greeks are covered in Delta, Gamma, Theta, Vega, and Rho order with one practical sentence each; strategies must state construction, payoff structure, time-value impact, volatility impact, use case, and risk notes. When a product is missing, it suggests nearby contracts and points to exchange or market-data sources for live parameters.
Boundaries
It is useful for education, concept cleanup, strategy frameworks, and risk self-checks, but not as a real-time market terminal or investment adviser. Live premiums, implied volatility, quotes, and margin must come from market-data software and exchange announcements. Directional requests like 'what should I buy' or 'can I buy this' are declined. BS formula derivation, high-frequency market making, crypto options, and FX are outside the core scope; futures questions are routed to the futures skill. Use it as an options explainer that gives rules, examples, and clear limits.
Use Cases
- When users ask what calls, puts, strike price, or premium mean, produce definitions, examples, and confusion points.
- When organizing CSI 300 index option or 50 ETF option specs, list underlying, multiplier, strike spacing, and final trading date.
- When users want to understand Delta, Gamma, or Theta in strategies, explain them in order and give hedging or payoff implications.
- When users ask how to build bull call spreads, iron condors, or strangles, output legs, breakevens, IV effects, and risk notes.
Best For
- Engineers building finance Q&A agents who need to restrict directional advice while keeping terminology explanations.
- Editors writing beginner options content who need reusable explanations for Greeks and strategy risk.
- Product managers doing compliance reviews who need the model to decline real-time quote requests and point to market data sources.
- Instructors preparing investor education who need structured checklists for calls/puts, straddles/strangles, and seller risk.
