Problem

High-school math subjective questions cannot be graded like multiple-choice items. Students may miss steps, use equivalent methods, make propagated errors, or submit blurry and crossed-out work. Manual grading requires recognizing handwritten formulas, deciding which steps deserve partial credit, and keeping rubrics consistent across batches.

How It Works

The skill is organized around subjective math grading:
- Input: it expects the question text, answer image, and maximum score; if the image includes the question, it can read that too.
- Handwriting recognition: it reads text, formulas, and diagrams visually, flagging uncertain parts with likely guesses.
- Rubric derivation: it generates reference solutions and scoring points, splitting the total score into key steps.
- Step-by-step comparison: correct steps get full marks, flawed steps get partial credit, and wrong steps receive explanations; errors caused by an earlier mistake are not double-counted.
- Batch summary: multiple answer images can be graded question by question, then combined into per-question and total scores.

Limits

It is best suited to process-based grading for high-school math subjective questions, especially functions, geometry, and algebra derivations. Severely blurry, unreadable, or blank answers are scored conservatively or marked for resubmission. Contested alternative solutions are graded leniently and flagged for teacher review.
