About this skill
Problem
In industrial research and investment screening, many sector analyses stop at a first-level industry plus recent funding heat. Sectors such as new energy vehicles, low-altitude economy, and solar are described too broadly to identify investable niches, while short-lived hype can be confused with durable growth. This skill targets that gap: it works from a specific industry chain and tries to surface second- and third-level niches that may compound over the next 3-5 years, with explicit supporting evidence.
How it works
The core idea is to turn sector analysis into auditable steps:
- Takes industry_chain, with optional target_region, analysis_depth, and time_range.
- Uses web_search to collect chain structure, market data, capital trends, technology milestones, and enterprise signals.
- Uses industry_decomposition to break the chain into upstream inputs, midstream manufacturing, downstream applications, key processes, core components, and emerging scenarios.
- Uses growth_scoring to rank candidates across market, technology, capital, enterprise, policy, investment-attraction, and spillover dimensions.
The workflow forces drill-down: identify niches, test growth drivers, validate capital and technology activity, assess enterprise clustering, then classify them into explosive, high-growth, potential, and watch-list tiers. If a region is provided, it also evaluates resource fit, talent fit, infrastructure fit, and chain-completion value.
Boundaries
- Output depends on live search and public sources; financing, market, and policy figures should be manually verified.
- It is better used as a structured research or screening draft, not as due diligence or formal investment advice.
- Without
target_region, the analysis leans toward a national map and differentiated entry points; provide a region for place-specific recommendations.
Use Cases
- A regional investment team drafting an annual project list screens low-altitude economy niches for priority attraction.
- An industry analyst writing a mid-term energy report decomposes upstream inputs, midstream parts, and downstream applications by growth stage.
- A PM screening primary-market ideas uses the last 18 months of financing, M&A, and new registrations to choose niches for due diligence.
- A planning institute studying regional transition uses a national industry map to find potential niches that complement local supply chains.
Best For
- Regional planning researcher who needs to break a target industry chain into defensible sub-sectors before filing a proposal.
- Government or park investment-attraction analyst who needs to select niches with high chain-completion value and clear landing conditions.
- Primary-market investment manager who needs to convert market, capital, technology, and company signals into a ranked shortlist.
- Industrial investment consultant who needs to deliver a verifiable medium-to-long-term sector view and regional fit advice.
