Problem
In NSFC-style proposals, the research foundation section often becomes a CV: publication years, project names, impact factors, and familiar tools. This can prove that research happened, but it may fail to answer the reviewer’s real question: why is this hypothesis best pursued by this team. The skill targets that gap: turning scattered outputs into an evidence chain that supports the scientific hypothesis.
How It Works
It operates around a mapping strategy: hypothesis node -> prior evidence. The core task is not sentence expansion, but strategic reframing:
- Papers: move from “published in a journal” to “built a framework that supports a specific hypothesis node”;
- Pilot studies: move from “completed N cases” to “observed a pattern that informs experimental design”;
- Methods and tools: move from “familiar with X” to “developed a reusable technical framework”;
- Projects: move from “led a project” to “accumulated prior theory and data for the current direction.”
The workflow generally takes inputs such as papers, projects, pilot data, and software, decomposes the key nodes of the scientific hypothesis, maps each prior item to at least one node, and drafts narrative paragraphs using a “provides support for...” structure. Self-check criteria include hypothesis mapping, logical linkage, non-CV writing, feasibility, and methodological maturity.
Boundaries
It fits cases where a clear hypothesis already exists but the prior foundation is fragmented, especially for NSFC, provincial-level grants, and feasibility sections. It does not invent real data or replace the applicant’s evidentiary responsibility. Papers, pilot results, software copyrights, and project details still require user-provided, verifiable information. If the prior work is cross-domain or weakly connected to the hypothesis, the output may expose an evidence gap, which should trigger manual strengthening or hypothesis adjustment.
