When you are deep in a multi-turn session with an agent, the question "what is it doing right now?" usually demands your eyes on the screen: is the model reasoning, is a tool executing, or has an approval prompt been waiting for you? ui-beep translates that information stream into three procedural Web Audio tones — a low heartbeat hum for busy work, a short tick for streaming output, and a two-bell chime for pending input — so you can keep track by ear without repeatedly checking the tab.

Every tone is synthesized in code with linear fade-in/fade-out envelopes; no audio files are required and rapid state flips never produce clicks or pops. Each of the three voices independently accepts a volume from 0 to 200 %, and any voice can be swapped for a local audio file (MP3, WAV, OGG, FLAC, M4A, AAC, OPUS, WebM). The plugin reads the file through a browser-authenticated loopback route; the absolute path is stored in user settings and the file itself is never uploaded or copied. Browser autoplay policy is handled gracefully: the engine arms on the first pointer-down or key-down anywhere on the page and is a complete silent no-op before that gesture. A one-click mute lives in the composer tool row, and the settings page offers per-voice preview and restore-default, with all changes applied instantly and persisted.

Best for developers who spend long stretches in agent sessions and would rather keep their eyes on code or docs, and for anyone juggling multiple concurrent sessions who wants to tell which one is working and which one is waiting on them simply by listening.
