Under the hood it uses a dual data path: it prefers a host-route proxy (/usage-monitor/deepseek and /usage-monitor/kimi) that forwards upstream requests server-side and sidesteps browser CORS restrictions; if that route is unreachable, it falls back to a browser-direct fetch. All styles are scoped under a data-plugin attribute so the widget never overlaps the chat area or breaks the existing layout.

API keys are configured per machine in a local credentials file or browser localStorage and are never bundled with the plugin.
