The default DSH web UI follows a modern, flat design language. dsh-window98-theme pulls the entire visual layer back to 1998: a teal desktop, silver beveled panels, navy accents, pixelated MS Sans Serif typography, and checkerboard scrollbars with four arrow buttons. Every detail is derived from the original 98.css design system, and the included dark variant, Win98 Night, keeps the classic bevels on dark gray surfaces.

At its core, the plugin remaps roughly 90 --dsw-alias-* design tokens across buttons, hover states, code blocks, chat bubbles, the sidebar, tooltips, and scrollbars. It resets every border-radius to zero, strips out blur, shadows, and transition animations, and restores the tactile feel of the boxy era. Theme switching is instant with no page refresh: the client half hot-applies core tokens through the theme service, while the host half injects the full stylesheet into every served index.html so the skin survives reloads.

It is aimed at nostalgia seekers, retro-design enthusiasts, and anyone who wants a small visual treat in a daily tool. Once enabled, DSH buttons press in like their Windows 98 counterparts and scrollbars crawl one pixel at a time purely a cosmetic easter egg that leaves every feature untouched.
