Unit conversion in a model conversation rarely fails because of the math. It fails at the edges: categories bleeding into each other, Chinese unit names going unrecognized, temperature and temperature-difference being conflated. dsh-unitverse bundles ten categories — length, area, volume, time, angle, speed, temperature, pressure, energy, and power — into a single convert tool. Each category only exposes its own units, so cross-category mistakes are structurally impossible. Every unit accepts its symbol, English full name, and Chinese name interchangeably, case-insensitive, so km, kilometer, and 千米 all work without friction.

Temperature is the category where things fall apart most easily, because the difference between an absolute scale and a temperature delta is just a Δ prefix yet is routinely confused. The plugin makes the two modes explicit: absolute (°C / °F / K / °R) and delta (Δ°C ↔ Δ°F). Invalid combinations return a clear error that suggests both fixes, letting the model self-correct. Results are rounded to about 10 significant digits, and the conversion core is a zero-dependency, pure-TypeScript module that can be unit-tested or imported into standalone projects.

The plugin also ships a client-side web panel that appears as a tab next to chat and trajectory views in DSH. It is organised into ten category modules; units are picked from dropdowns rather than typed, the temperature module offers a delta toggle, and recent conversions are stored per category in localStorage. All computation happens in the browser with no round-trip to the model or server. It is well suited for engineers who convert units in Chinese, developers who want a clean, testable tool surface for their model, and anyone who needs a lightweight web panel for quick conversions.
