The DeepSeek Harness Web GUI has long shipped with a flat, static background, while a carefully curated Wallpaper Engine library sits unused on your disk. dsh-we-wallpaper bridges the two: open the wallpaper card under Settings and Plugin Config, browse with live previews, search by title, and apply with a single click. The interface background instantly becomes the wallpaper you chose. The plugin is dependency-free, makes no changes to the dsh source tree, and is ready to use right after installation.

It handles four wallpaper types out of the box. Video wallpapers loop at native resolution with muted audio. Web wallpapers render inside a sandboxed, click-through iframe so they cannot interfere with GUI interaction. Image wallpapers display as-is. Scene wallpapers are rendered by Wallpaper Engine at the monitor's true resolution and recorded as a 12-second H.264 loop that is persisted to a local cache; every subsequent launch reads the cached MP4, so the blurry 160-pixel Workshop preview is never stretched again. Readability controls include a dark scrim, panel translucency that works in both light and dark themes, cover or contain fit, and an SVG convolution sharpen filter for fallback preview sources. The media element is reused while the selection stays the same, so dragging a slider never restarts the video stream or spawns a second decode pipeline, fixing an earlier memory-leak crash. Selection and extracted artwork are persisted under the local dsh directory and survive restarts.

Ideal for users who already run Wallpaper Engine and want every DSH session to open onto a personal, living workspace rather than a bare utility panel. On platforms where live scene recording is unavailable, the plugin gracefully degrades to a high-resolution still texture decoded directly from the scene package, keeping the background crisp at 4K and beyond. Every API route is fenced with same-origin and path-traversal checks, web wallpapers run inside a sandbox iframe, and the bundled scene recorder is the public-domain wcap binary, so the security posture matches the trust model you already give Wallpaper Engine.
