A Claude Code session starts and the whale-girl at the edge of your screen picks up her bowl and starts eating, bite by bite. The turn ends and she sets the bowl down, sometimes pressing her palms together for a little blessing. You hit Esc to interrupt and she flashes you a smug look. You click her and she waves, rests her chin on her hands, sends you a heart, or — eight percent of the time — gets that smug look again. This is not a static wallpaper that sways in place; it is a desktop pet that breathes on the same rhythm as your coding session.

Its core capability is mapping every stage of an AI conversation — waiting, thinking, tool calls, output, completion, failure — onto its own hand-animated track. Over a dozen animations are generated from AI video and then hand-keyed frame by frame; the idle loop of breathing, hair drift, and blinking is procedurally baked rather than simply looped. When a sub-agent fires, a small dolphin swims out from beside her, circles once, and sinks back. In the dsh build you can also swap the default system phrases in her speech bubble for her own little mutterings.
