DSH's web chat UI ships with a plain, neutral backdrop that can feel a little flat after a while. dsh-bg-plugin adds a dedicated Background page under Settings, where you can drop in a remote image URL or browse a local folder to pick a picture, and the entire UI backdrop transforms around it. Common formats such as png, jpg, gif, webp and svg are supported, up to 12 MB per file, and nothing ever leaves your machine.

Once a backdrop is set, you can fine-tune clarity, dimming and blur so the text layer stays perfectly legible. The static build goes a step further with an interactive crop region: drag to select, pan, resize from the corners, and the fractional coordinates are persisted so the view stays framed across window resizes and restarts. Every adjustment is written to a local state file and restored automatically. Meanwhile the settings dialog re-declares its original surface tokens, so the panel always stays fully opaque and visually consistent regardless of the backdrop underneath.
