Opening a web page mid-conversation should be effortless, yet iframes are routinely blocked by X-Frame-Options headers and generic browsers lack a unified entry point. dsh-web-browse charts two paths: inside DshDesktop it loads pages as genuine desktop web tabs via a WebView2 browser extension, sidestepping embedded-frame restrictions entirely; in Edge, Chrome, and other standard browsers it falls back to window.open so the basic open-in-new-tab flow always works. In either environment, a single sidebar button is your starting point—left-click to jump to a default URL, right-click to summon a floating search box where you type a URL to visit or a query to search.

DshDesktop unlocks capabilities that plain browsers simply cannot offer. The WebView2 extension injects a top bar into every web tab with back/forward/refresh, an address-and-search field, an engine selector, tab management, and page keep-alive. Select text on any page and the native context menu gains a “⬆️ Search selected text” entry right below Copy, piping the selection into the floating search box for an instant lookup. All settings—default URL, auto-open at launch, built-in or custom search engines—sync through the host bridge to every tab’s top bar, so one configuration applies everywhere.

If you occasionally run the DSH harness in Edge or Chrome, it still provides a consistent sidebar entry point and guarantees that every open-in-tab action degrades gracefully, so you are never stuck behind an iframe wall.
