About this plugin
When you are deep into a long multi-turn DSH conversation, hunting for a specific user instruction means dragging the scrollbar back and forth, and things get worse when steering messages have been injected mid-run. dsh-user-message-jump turns that chore into a glanceable shortcut: a slim vertical strip appears along the left edge of the chat area, with one tick-mark per user message arranged chronologically top to bottom, much like a mini table of contents.
Interaction is deliberate but fast. Hovering a tick mark extends it smoothly and shifts it to the brand colour while a tooltip pops up with a three-line text preview and the send timestamp. A click scrolls the conversation straight to that message, which is outlined in the brand colour for about 1.2 seconds as a confirmation cue. Each tick mark has an 8px invisible hit zone so the cursor never slips between adjacent marks; clicks on blank areas of the strip pass through to the content beneath. When there are no user messages the strip hides itself entirely. Full keyboard support is provided via Tab focus plus Enter or Space, and every colour is sourced from DSH theme tokens so the component adapts to light and dark modes out of the box.
If your workflow in DSH involves long iterative sessions where you frequently need to revisit earlier user prompts or steering corrections, this plugin gives you a directory-style way to jump to any turn without the interrupting scroll, keeping your mental flow intact.
Use Cases
- Quickly revisiting a specific user prompt in a long multi-turn session
- Locating context after multiple steering messages have been injected
- Navigating between user messages using keyboard only
Best For
- Power users who run long multi-turn conversations in DSH
- Developers who frequently revisit raw prompts or steering corrections
- Efficiency-focused users who prefer keyboard-driven navigation
