About this plugin

If you often find yourself in long DSH WebUI conversations where the context window creeps toward its limit and you have to manually open a new session and re-paste the key context, dsh-whale-companion automates that chore. Once a session's context pressure hits 88 percent of the window, the plugin spawns a new session in the same Workspace carrying only the last complete user-assistant turn (capped at 24,000 characters). This avoids duplicating the full history while keeping the conversation flowing without a break.

The second, fully independent feature is an append-style whale-maid butler persona. The plugin injects character tone through a dedicated persona section that adds to, rather than replaces, the Harness identity, deployed persona, or any other system prompt. The full persona appears only on the first model request of a new session; subsequent turns keep a single short reminder to save tokens, and the model can re-read the persona on demand via the read_whale_persona tool. The persona text is editable directly in the WebUI, and if the saved file is corrupted the plugin logs a warning and falls back to the default without blocking startup.

Who it fits: users of DSH WebUI who run long sessions and want to cut manual handoff overhead, as well as anyone who enjoys a touch of character warmth in daily conversations without wanting to rewrite system-prompt architecture. The two features are independent, so you can use auto-continuation without the persona, or vice versa.

Use Cases

  • Long WebUI conversations nearing the context limit without needing manual handoff
  • Adding a light character tone to daily chats without touching or overriding system prompts
  • Keeping the full persona on the first request only, then a short reminder to save tokens

Best For

  • DSH WebUI users who run long, multi-turn sessions
  • Personalization lovers who want character warmth without rewriting system-prompt architecture
  • Heavy conversationalists who want less manual context-window management
