dsh web has always been a browser-only affair: it prints a localhost URL and you take it from there. dsh-desktop-shell closes that gap the instant you run dsh web—an Electron desktop window pops up automatically, complete with a system tray icon, minimize-to-tray, window position and size memory, and a single-instance lock so repeated runs simply focus the existing window. The dsh engine is not modified in any way; the plugin is injected into the web profile as a host extension.

The fallback design is what keeps the approach safe. If Electron is missing, the spawn fails, or the window cannot load, the plugin quietly reverts to pure browser mode and prints the URL. dsh web never breaks because of the desktop layer. A CLI flag or an environment variable can also disable the desktop window entirely, letting you slide back to the familiar terminal-and-browser workflow in one step.
