About this plugin
Economics researchers spend a significant chunk of each day checking NBER, multiple arXiv categories, and several Chinese-language journals just to see whether new working papers have landed. Manually refreshing RSS feeds is tedious, and it is all too easy to miss a paper that turns out to be exactly what you needed. dsh-journal-monitor turns that whole routine into a single command: scan every source at once, filter the results by your keywords, push an alert to your phone via Bark or Feishu, deduplicate automatically with a persistent state file, and even schedule a recurring daily or weekly briefing so the literature arrives to you instead of the other way around.
The plugin presently covers NBER Working Papers (RSS), four arXiv economics categories (econ.GN, econ.EM, econ.TH, q-fin.GN), and five major Chinese journals in economics and management (World Economy, China Rural Observation, Finance and Trade Economics, Population: A Journal of Science and Management, Economics and Management), with over 175 papers fetched across real integration test runs. Every push defaults to dry-run mode, so nothing is sent unless you have explicitly set a webhook URL, keeping the workflow safe out of the box. You can also register any additional RSS or journal source on the fly mid-session with journal_add_source, making the watchlist as flexible as your research agenda.
Built for graduate students, faculty, and think-tank analysts who track both English working papers and top-tier Chinese journals, and who want to retire the daily ritual of opening journal websites in a browser tab.
Use Cases
- Daily scan of NBER and arXiv economics papers with keyword-filtered push alerts
- Track new publications in major Chinese journals such as World Economy and China Rural Observation
- Schedule a weekly briefing that automatically summarizes new economics literature
Best For
- Economics graduate students tracking English working papers
- Faculty members watching both English and Chinese journals
- Think-tank analysts who need regular literature reviews
