About this plugin

The default DeepSeek Harness Web GUI is tidy but bare. BestUI turns a background change into a single action inside Settings: enable the plugin, drop in a JPG, PNG, WebP, or even an animated GIF, and the wallpaper sits behind every panel while buttons and labels stay perfectly legible. Oversized images are downscaled and re-encoded to roughly 2 MB automatically, and GIF animation frames are preserved.

Surface transparency is your call. Three independent opacity sliders — base backdrop, secondary surface, sidebar — let you dial in exactly how much of the wallpaper peeks through, each with a one-click reset to the product default. Colour control goes deeper: 14 design tokens plus 9 interactive element colours (hover, pressed, scrollbar, tooltip, and so on), each offered in both a light-scheme and a dark-scheme value, with border transparency matching the shell. Toggle on auto palette and the plugin samples the image on a 32×32 canvas grid, feeding bright tones to the light scheme and dark tones to the dark scheme, then flips the theme automatically based on overall luminance. Font family, weight, size, interface scale, corner radius, and settings-dialog dimensions are all adjustable, every control paired with a restore-to-default button. When you are happy with the look, export the entire scheme as one JSON file and import it on another machine for a full restore.

Everything persists in browser localStorage; nothing is uploaded. In private-browsing mode settings degrade gracefully to in-memory storage. BestUI is aimed at people who use the DeepSeek Harness Web GUI daily and want a personal touch without hand-editing CSS or pulling in a heavyweight skinning framework. It is currently a 0.1.x preview, so rapid host changes may require occasional re-adaptation, but the core visual experience and interaction model are already polished and production-usable.

Use Cases

  • Upload a personal image as the working background in DeepSeek Harness Web GUI to break the monotony of a default interface
  • Fine-tune 14 design tokens and interactive element colors separately for light and dark modes to find the most comfortable reading palette
  • Export the full wallpaper-and-color scheme as a JSON file, then import it on another machine or share it with a teammate for instant restoration

Best For

  • Heavy daily users of DeepSeek Harness Web GUI who want a personal touch without switching to a desktop skin or theme engine
  • Light-customization users who prefer dragging an image and nudging a few sliders in Settings over hand-editing CSS files
  • Teams or individuals who need a consistent UI across multiple machines and want to sync their look via scheme export and import
