About this plugin

The default settings page in DeepSeek Harness is just a flat block of color behind the chat. dsh-dynamic-wallpaper adds a dedicated Dynamic Wallpaper panel under Settings → General and paints the background with eight purely Canvas-rendered effects: connected particle networks, meteor showers, a 3D starfield fly-through, layered sine waves, a late-night rain curtain, rising ocean bubbles, a Matrix-style character rain, and a flowing aurora with a lake reflection. Nothing is fetched from external CDNs. Four sliders let you tune speed, density, mask opacity, and blur in real time. The animation stays transparent beneath the main content area and the sidebar, so message bubbles remain fully opaque and readable; when the tab is hidden the animation and video pause automatically to save battery and GPU cycles.

Beyond the built-in effects the plugin accepts custom video backgrounds. Paste a direct-play https URL or import a local MP4, WebM, OGV, MOV, or M4V file; local files are stored in the browser IndexedDB and survive page refreshes and browser restarts. Remote videos are pre-loaded in the background before replacing the current wallpaper—if loading fails (hotlink protection, CORS, unsupported format, decode failure, or timeout) the previous wallpaper is kept and a specific error is shown. Three royalty-free Pexels presets (ocean waves, live concert, digital globe—each 1080p and under 21 MB) are built into the panel for one-click trial. Video rendering is offered at three quality tiers: Smooth (half-resolution, 20 fps), Balanced (75 percent resolution, 24 fps, default), and Full (native output), using downsampling and frame-rate capping to keep compositing overhead minimal.

The plugin is aimed at users who want a personalized, ambient feel for their DSH interface without installing a browser extension or running a separate background service. All logic runs on the page side, the code is released under the MIT license, and a single dsh plugin install command is all it takes to get started.
