About this plugin
Sometimes your main task is still running and you just want to ask why the model wrote something a certain way, or what a particular error means, without polluting the active context. dsh-side-chat is a side-chat plugin built exactly for that ask-while-running workflow.
Using the /side command or the floating button in the bottom-right corner, you can open a temporary forked session next to the main conversation. It inherits the full context up to the last completed turn, streams responses over the same message channel, and renders Markdown with live scrolling. The main task keeps going uninterrupted throughout, and when you close the side chat, the session is archived and removed; the main thread log retains only a single command card with no trace in the model context.
If you frequently run long tasks while needing quick, on-the-spot clarifications, this plugin turns a casual quick question into a zero-cost habit that never touches your active thread.
Use Cases
- Asking why a code decision was made while the main task is still running
- Clarifying an error message mid-stream without interrupting the output
- Firing off several quick follow-up questions without slowing down the main thread
Best For
- Heavy AI users who interject questions during long-running tasks
- Developers who run multi-turn conversations and need clean context separation
- Efficiency-focused users who want instant answers without polluting the main thread
