Introduction¶
DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is designed to achieve a high degree of modularity through plugins. However, the default DSH Web interface only has built-in Simplified Chinese and English, and the core code structure is fixed. For users who need a Traditional Chinese environment, it is usually necessary to manually modify core files, which is neither safe nor favorable for subsequent maintenance. The dsh-locale-zh-tw plugin addresses this pain point by extending behavior on the browser side.
Plugin Positioning¶
This is a “client” type plugin maintained by wangsan71. Its core value is to enable the DSH Web interface to natively support Traditional Chinese (Taiwan). Without modifying DSH core files, it achieves automatic Simplified-to-Traditional conversion across the entire interface and automatic switching based on the browser language.
Core Features¶
The plugin mainly includes the following capabilities:
- Interface localization: Provides a Traditional Chinese (Taiwan) language pack for the DSH Web interface.
- Automatic Traditional Chinese conversion: Automatically converts Simplified Chinese to Traditional Chinese across the entire interface, using Taiwan terminology standards (89 phrase groups + 389 character mappings in total).
- Browser adaptation: Automatically detects the browser language and supports the
zh-TW,zh-Hant,zh-HK, andzh-MOlocale settings, switching automatically. - Non-invasive extension: Does not require modifying DSH core files. It only extends
LocaleRuntimeon the browser side and usescordis.patch.ymlto perform core extension.
Installation and Enablement¶
The installation process depends on a Node.js environment. After installation, DSH Web must be restarted for the changes to take effect.
# 1. 安装插件包
npm install dsh-locale-zh-tw
# 2. 将其加入 profile 的 bundles(以 web profile 为例)
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-locale-zh-tw
After installation is complete, you need to restart the dsh web service.
Usage¶
After enabling the plugin, you can switch languages in the following ways:
- Manual switching: In the DSH Web interface, go to “Settings → General → Language” and select “Traditional Chinese”. The entire interface immediately switches to Traditional Chinese, and the preference is stored in the browser’s
localStorage, so it will be restored automatically the next time it is opened. - Automatic switching: If the browser language is set to
zh-TW,zh-Hant,zh-HK, orzh-MO, the plugin will automatically select Traditional Chinese after it is opened.
Principles and Notes¶
The design of this plugin is based on the following facts and limitations:
- Preference storage location: Because the DSH host’s
settings schemacurrently only recognizeszhanden, azh-TWpreference cannot be written to the host. The plugin stores the preference on the browser side (localStorage). This means that if you switch browsers, you will need to select the language again. - Fault tolerance: Any configuration failure or loading issue will cause silent degradation, without affecting the normal loading of dsh web.
- Scope of application: The plugin runs only on the browser side, does not depend on any external packages, and installing it into any profile will not cause missing-package issues.
Conclusion¶
dsh-locale-zh-tw bypasses the core’s hard-coded limitation on language support through browser-side interception and extension. For developers who need to use Taiwan Mandarin in the DSH environment, this is a solution that improves the experience without modifying core code.
