Introduction

DeepSeek Harness includes a built-in SQLite FTS5 full-text search engine and a cross-session reference mechanism, but it does not provide a user interface. The dsh-session-workbench plugin fills this gap by providing a complete workflow from discovery and browsing to inserting references.

Core Capabilities

The plugin mainly consists of two parts: Session Library and Session View.

Session Library

Provides full-text search and recall capabilities for historical sessions.
* Full-text search: Supports filtering by workspace, time range, and archive status. Search results are displayed as snippets, with matched sentences highlighted.
* Locate and highlight: Click Locate to jump to the corresponding session and highlight the specific message.
* Reference recall: Supports inserting references into the input box, with up to 3 sessions selected at a time.
* Archive support: Search includes archived sessions by default, and the display mode can be switched using filters.

Session View

Provides show/hide and drag-to-sort functionality for the Session KB tab bar.

Installation and Configuration

The installation command is as follows:

dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-session-workbench

Note: The Session Library feature requires a persistent FTS index to be enabled. Set openAt: startup in the Web profile configuration file to ensure the index is built and reused at startup, avoiding blocking on every search.

Typical Usage

  1. Open the Session KB tab in the right sidebar.
  2. If no keyword is entered, the recent sessions list is displayed; after entering a keyword, expand the search box to search.
  3. Click a result to expand the preview, then click Locate to navigate to the specific message.
  4. Select sessions (up to 3) and click Insert references into input to insert references.
  5. Manage the session view: toggle visibility in Settings, or drag to reorder by right-clicking/double-clicking the tab bar.

Limitations and Notes

  • Environment requirements: Only DeepSeek Harness’s Web profile is supported.
  • Index configuration: A persistent FTS index must be enabled; otherwise, the search feature is unavailable.
  • Reference limits: A single message can reference at most 3 sessions, and each session snapshot is limited to 64KB in size.
  • Search mechanism: Search uses exact phrase matching and does not support synonym functionality.

Conclusion

This plugin provides DSH users with a closed-loop capability for cross-session retrieval and context recall, making it suitable for developers and researchers who frequently need to review historical conversations.
