Introduction¶
DeepSeek Harness (DSH) lets you build agents through plugins. You may have skills and MCP servers installed, but “installed” and “available in context” are two different things. Context management (such as pruning and compression) can cause skills to leave the model’s field of view, while logs still show “normal.” dsh-capability-panel solves this by showing the actual loading status and allowing you to toggle capabilities on or off.
Overview¶
This is a DeepSeek Harness plugin. It lists the skills, MCP servers, and system tools in the current session, shows their actual loading status, and lets you toggle them per session or by preset defaults.
Core Features¶
- Real loading status: shows what the model can actually see in the next request (loaded, truncated, evicted, not loaded).
- Session-level toggles: disable skills, tools, or entire MCP servers in the current session, effective from the next prompt assembly.
- Preset defaults: set a default capability set for each agent preset, inherited when a new session is created.
- MCP server grouping: group tools by server and display them collapsed.
- Offline server list: show MCP servers declared in the host configuration but without registered tools.
- Interception count: count how many times the model attempted to call disabled capabilities.
- Local-first: data routing accepts loopback only; the plugin makes no outbound calls and sends no telemetry.
Installation and Activation¶
First confirm that your environment meets the requirements: use the dsh web profile, and DSH version ≥ 0.1.2-alpha.4.
Run the installation command:
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-capability-panel
Restart DSH after installation. The plugin has no additional configuration items; it works as soon as it is installed.
Typical Usage¶
Open any conversation and click the panel icon to the right of the input box; the panel expands upward.
- The top three sections are Skills N / MCP N / Tools N, each with real-time counts.
- Click a row to expand its description.
- The Global Settings item on the left takes you directly to Settings → Capability Panel.
Use Cases and Notes¶
- Debugging: If the agent does not know a skill, check whether it is actually in context.
- Permission control: Temporarily disable a tool or MCP server in the current session.
- Version requirement: DSH ≥ 0.1.2-alpha.4 is required, and the
dsh webprofile must be used. - Dependencies: All
@deepseek-ai/*runtime pieces are provided by the host.
In Short¶
This plugin provides a lightweight way to inspect and debug an agent’s capability state. See the catalog page and the GitHub repository for more details.
