In the development practice of DeepSeek Harness (DSH), models sometimes tend to generate verbose or overly complex code. To guide the model toward more concise solutions, an explicit coding-guidance tool is needed. The dsh-ds-ponytail plugin aims to solve this problem.

Installation and Activation

Before installation, ensure that you are using DeepSeek Harness 0.1.2-alpha.5 or later.

  1. Add the pre-built npm package to the specified profile:
    dsh plugin --profile demo add dsh-ds-ponytail
  1. If you need to install from GitHub and specify a version:
    dsh plugin --profile demo add github:Stijnus/dsh-ds-ponytail#<commit-sha>
  1. Verify and start the configuration:
    dsh --profile demo --dump-config
    dsh --profile demo
  1. After installation, the running Web profile must be restarted so that it loads the new browser module.

Typical Usage

You can request skills by name, for example: “use the ponytail skill”, “ponytail review this diff”, or “ponytail debt”.

Profiles that mount the Harness skill tool also accept the following slash commands:

Notes

  • Version requirement: DeepSeek Harness 0.1.2-alpha.5 or later is required.
  • Activation mechanism: Installing the plugin does not automatically activate Ponytail mode. The ponytail skill enters conversation mode only when continuous mode is explicitly requested in the conversation, and it does not persist across sessions.
  • Benchmark data source: The benchmark context displayed by ponytail-gain reports upstream metrics, not measurements from DeepSeek or DeepSeek Harness.
