Introduction¶
After writing a video script or screenplay in a DeepSeek Harness (DSH) conversation, you often need to switch to external tools for previewing and exporting. DSH Video Studio integrates the video editing view into the DSH workspace, allowing you to edit while keeping the conversation, workspace, and composer side by side.
Installation and Startup¶
This plugin depends on Node.js 22.12+ and pnpm. Make sure your environment meets these requirements before installing.
npx @deepseek-ai/dsh plugin --profile web add -w github:lovstudio/dsh-video-studio
npx @deepseek-ai/dsh web
If DSH is already running, restart the application after installing. After startup, open the Video tab in an existing conversation, or click Start editing in a blank session. You can specify a version tag, for example pinning it to v0.2.2: github:lovstudio/dsh-video-studio#v0.2.2.
Core Features¶
DSH Video Studio provides the following core capabilities:
* Media library and timeline: Supports video, audio, title, and subtitle tracks, with media library browsing and frame-level preview.
* Remotion integration: Uses Remotion to drive preview and MP4 rendering; GSAP animations are automatically synchronized to composite frames.
* ASR speech recognition: Supports pluggable speech recognition services; a server endpoint must be configured.
* Collaboration and saving: Allows handing off the current project state (ID, clips, playhead) to DSH Agent for bidirectional editing.
Workspace and Project Management¶
The plugin resolves the workspace path from DSH session metadata, allowing you to browse and import media files from the workspace into the project media library. Source files remain unchanged; the project JSON only stores media references and does not embed the source files.
- Canvas model: Portrait (vertical) and Square canvases share the same project model.
- Data storage: Projects are stored by default in
$DSH_HOME/video-studio(or~/.dsh/video-studio). Server-side save operations are atomic. - Demo project: New sessions start with an empty timeline. Demo projects (such as titles) must be opened manually. Demo projects automatically generated by older versions no longer replace the current session automatically; they are only retained for manual opening.
API and Configuration¶
The plugin provides a RESTful API for rendering, ASR, and file management. Rendering tasks use immutable project snapshots and support progress queries, cancellation, and MP4 download.
The ASR feature requires explicit configuration of the server endpoint and model. Set the environment variables as follows:
export DSH_VIDEO_ASR_ENDPOINT='https://your-provider.example/v1/audio/transcriptions'
export DSH_VIDEO_ASR_MODEL='your-timestamp-capable-model'
Notes¶
- Node.js 22.12+ and pnpm are required.
- If DSH is already running, restart it after installing the plugin.
- ASR requires a server endpoint that supports timestamps.
- Demo projects must be opened manually.
- The project JSON only stores media references and does not include source files.
- Vertical and square canvases share the project model.
