Introduction¶
When building prompts in DeepSeek Harness (DSH), you often encounter issues such as vague draft intent, loose structure, or difficulty applying specific thinking methods. The PromptKit plugin provides a set of tools that run directly inside DSH, aiming to turn rough drafts into structured, actionable prompts.
What This Is¶
PromptKit is a plugin for DeepSeek Harness and belongs to the Prompt building & enhancement toolkit. It includes two core components: PromptStudio (an advanced workspace) and QuickEnhancer (a quick conversational enhancer). The plugin is developed by maintainer fsrmqi.
Core Features¶
- One-Click Enhancement and Five-Dimension Diagnostics: Click ✦ Enhance to enhance a draft. The default path only refines wording without changing the task scope. The enhancement process supports streaming output and provides five-dimension diagnostics (clarity, implicit assumptions, falsifiability, actionability, and context fit) as auxiliary checks.
- Thinking Method Library: Built-in 22 Markdown thinking methods (such as Socratic questioning, first principles, and minimal experiments). The system intelligently matches and recommends methods, but only applies them after the user explicitly selects one.
- Local Management and Version Control: PromptKit Vault provides a local library for saving drafts and completed prompts, with features including search, favorites, grouping, and version diff comparison.
- Configuration and Integration: Supports automatic polishing before sending, preserving skill mentions (such as
/tdd), template variable filling, and quick insertion via the/pkcommand.
Installation and Enablement¶
Run the following command in your terminal to install the plugin:
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-promptkit
After installation, refresh the browser. The interface will display the ✦ Enhance button and a conversational tab named “Advanced Method Studio”.
Typical Usage¶
- Enhance a prompt: Write a draft in the editor and click ✦ Enhance. The preview panel displays the enhanced prompt, which preserves the intent and scope of the original draft. After confirming it is correct, you can inject it into the editor.
- Quick insertion: Type
/pk keywordsin the input box to open a compact Vault candidate menu. Use the arrow keys to select an item and press Enter to insert it, without switching to DSH’s native command.
Use Cases and Notes¶
- Use cases: Developers who need to quickly optimize prompt structure, validate prompt quality, or manage prompts in bulk.
- Runtime environment: The plugin runs with DSH process privileges. Review the source code and license before installation.
- System requirements: Node >=22.6 is required.
- Privacy and models: The plugin adopts zero telemetry, supports zero-token options, and its local lightweight enhancement can work offline. Semantic enhancement does not use a separate API Key; instead, it reuses the model service already configured in DSH.
- Context limitations: Project memory must be searched and previewed before injection.
@file references come from DSH’s native mention menu and are not reimplemented by the plugin. - Compatibility: Verified compatibility with DSH 0.1.3-alpha.1 and 0.1.2-alpha.2.
Summary¶
PromptKit focuses on providing structured prompt building and enhancement capabilities within the DSH ecosystem, improving development efficiency through a local library and a streaming diagnostics loop.
