Introduction¶
In DeepSeek Harness (DSH) Web mode, the default wallpaper is often not persistent, and the scope of localStorage includes the protocol, host, and port. If the Web server port changes, the saved wallpaper settings may become invalid. The dsh-wallpaper plugin solves this pain point by providing persistent custom wallpaper support for Web profiles and fixing port-related issues.
Plugin Overview¶
The plugin is maintained by Frog755 and released under the MIT license. It adds a persistent wallpaper setting to DSH Web profiles, allowing users to choose a local image or video as the background. The plugin uses local storage and the file system to save wallpaper data, ensuring the settings remain after a restart.
Core Features¶
- Persistent Storage: Wallpaper settings and files are stored in the local
~/.dsh/wallpapersdirectory. The data is also saved in the browser’slocalStorage. - Media Support: Local images and MP4 video files (up to 300MB) are supported.
- Visual Adjustments: Provides options for “surface transparency” and “wallpaper blur”.
- Video Processing:
- Videos are muted and loop automatically.
- If
ffmpegandffprobeare installed, videos are compressed to H.264 (target approximately 18MB, 1080p resolution, 30fps), and the audio is removed; otherwise, the original file is kept.
- Port Locking: The Bundle patch locks the Web server port to 9191 to prevent wallpaper loss caused by
localStoragescope changes due to port changes.
Installation and Enablement¶
After installation, restart the dsh web process to load the new Bundle patch.
1. Install the Official Plugin
dsh plugin --profile web add -w @frog755/dsh-wallpaper
2. Local Development Installation
If developing in the root directory of a cloned repository, run:
dsh plugin --profile web add -w .
3. Enable and Configure
After installation, restart dsh web, then go to Settings -> General -> Wallpaper. Choose a local image or video file here, and adjust the transparency and blur.
Notes¶
- Port Usage: The plugin locks the Web server to port 9191 by default. If the port is already in use, stop the process using it or change the port setting in the
cordis.patch.ymlfile. - Video Compression: Video compression depends on
ffmpegandffprobe. Make sure they are available in thePATHof the DSH Host process. - Dependency Management: The plugin relies on Peer Dependencies (such as
react ^18.2.0,@deepseek-ai/cordis ^4.0.1, etc.). These are provided by the DSH Host and do not need to be installed manually. - Data Cleanup: When replacing or deleting a wallpaper, the old local file is removed. Old unreferenced wallpaper videos are also cleaned up automatically at startup.
Summary¶
dsh-wallpaper is a practical tool focused on interface personalization. Through persistent storage and port fixing, it resolves the unstable wallpaper configuration issue in DSH Web mode. For users who need to deeply customize the Web interface, it is a reliable solution.
