Introduction¶
DeepSeek Harness (DSH) extends capabilities through a plugin mechanism. In code editing or agent development scenarios, enabling models to understand project structure, locate symbol definitions, and analyze call relationships is a high-frequency need. The dsh-tool-codegraph plugin wraps the open-source codegraph CLI tool, converting AST/tree-sitter code indexing capabilities into 10 specific DSH tools for agents to call.
Plugin Overview¶
- Name: dsh-tool-codegraph
- Positioning: A CodeGraph navigation toolset provided for DeepSeek Harness
- Maintainer: m1khal3v
- License: MIT
- Category: Client
Installation and Prerequisites¶
The plugin depends on a Node.js environment and a standalone codegraph CLI binary.
- Ensure Node.js is installed on the system, with a version satisfying
^22.19 || >=24. - Ensure the
codegraphbinary from the open-source tool is available in the systemPATHenvironment variable.
To install the plugin:
dsh plugin add --profile web @m1khal3v/dsh-tool-codegraph
After installation, check the CLI wrapper status:
codegraph status
Core Features¶
The plugin provides 10 specific tools covering code indexing, search, call analysis, and impact assessment:
- Index health and statistics: View index status and statistics.
- Synchronize changes: Synchronize file changes since the last index.
- Symbol search: Find symbols by name.
- Code exploration: Map areas of code, including source code and call paths.
- Caller query: Find locations that call the current symbol (results are imprecise).
- Callee query: View what the current symbol calls (results are imprecise).
- Impact analysis: Analyze the potential impact scope of modifying a symbol.
- Symbol details: View the detailed definition or file view of a single symbol.
- File structure: Obtain the project file structure from the index.
- Affected tests: Find test files affected by changed source files.
Usage¶
Initializing the Index¶
The plugin collection does not provide an init tool. According to project recommendations, indexing must be started manually by the user, not automatically by an agent. When codegraph status reports that an index is missing, manually run initialization:
codegraph init
Workflow¶
The plugin automatically injects usage rules into the system prompt. The recommended workflow order is: status check → sync → explore → targeted query.
Notes¶
- Dynamic dispatch edge cases: Caller, callee, and impact analysis may miss call edges produced by dynamic dispatch. In such cases, fall back to using
grepfor search. - Index permissions: Indexing should be triggered by the user to avoid an agent running it without awareness for an extended period.
Ecosystem and Source¶
This plugin is an independent project within the DeepSeek Harness ecosystem and has no affiliation with DeepSeek or High-Flyer (the official entity). All indexing and query logic is handled by the underlying codegraph CLI.
